Artist Statement
My current work explores the intersection of painting and sculpture through encaustic and mixed media processes. Using beeswax, resin, and heat, I build layered surfaces that embed natural and found materials—driftwood, fiber, paper, and industrial remnants. These materials carry their own histories, which I respond to intuitively as I construct vessel forms and textured assemblages.
I am drawn to the tension between fragility and strength, containment and release. Vessels appear frequently in my work as metaphors for the human experience—holding memory, emotion, and transformation. Through layering, burning in, and reworking surfaces, I allow each piece to evolve organically, embracing unpredictability as part of the process. My work exists in a space between control and surrender, where material and meaning emerge together.
