ISEA Exhibit History
ISEA is the International Society of Experimental Artists. ISEA was founded in 1991 by Maxine Masterfield and Gracie Hegeman. They felt constrained by the rules that were in place for art exhibits of other leading national and international artists groups. They wanted to create an organization that celebrated experimentation and exploration and provide a way to share ideas and information.
Since 1991, ISEA has had over 700 members in the USA and internationally.
Annual juried exhibitions include multi-day workshops, art demonstrations and a chance to network with artists working in open, creative and experimental ways with new techniques and materials.
ISEA exhibits have been held each year since 1991 in top museums and cultural centers across the USA and a companion exhibit was hosted in Wales in 2003 and 2004.
ISEA annual juried exhibits typically award over $4,000.00 in prizes.
